SemiTrac partners with Applied Materials to investigate process parameters on third party component performance.

Santa Clara, CA, 10-30-09 – SemiTrac, a growing Silicon Valley company specializing in the test and characterization of critical systems and components used in the semiconductor and solar capital equipment industries announced today that they have signed an agreement with Applied Materials, Inc. to study the effects of highly specialized process gasses on select, third-party components.

The goal of the new study will be to mitigate issues in third-party components whose performance is crucial to etch rate repeatability on Applied Materials wafer process equipment. The SemiTrac study will both seek to identify components requiring modification and provide corrective measures for critical subsystems that are exposed to highly corrosive process materials. Dr. Sowmya Krishnan, SemiTrac President and Chief Executive Officer, remarked "I believe that SemiTrac’s contribution to this process will enable Applied to focus more on key product development rather than allocating valuable resources on highly specialized component test and verification issues."

Reducing Product Development Time

The continuous pressure to reduce critical product development cycles has created a unique opportunity for SemiTrac. This partnership has resulted in a highly functional strategic alliance that helps Applied Materials identify issues in outsourced components and make the complex adjustments required to improve process repeatability in installed systems, and there by accelerate time to market for the IC makers. Mr. John Lane, Manager, Applied Fluid Systems at Applied Materials, Inc. noted: "The test and analytical expertise we found at SemiTrac will enable us to move forward and make valuable improvements in our process equipment quickly and efficiently".
