A note from Bob Goldberg

Over the past five decades, movies, theater and especially television have portrayed the advertising business as fun, fast, competitive and wildly creative. Well, it's all of those things, and more. I am amazed at how much I enjoy this business, and can't think of many other professional pursuits that could both hold my attention and pay the bills for so many years. Yes, it has its share of headaches, but this career has given me the freedom to explore my creativity and business acumen in a unique and very satisfying way. For me, however, people are the best part of my job. The relationships I enjoy with customers, employees, editors, photographers, VCs, business analysts and other colleagues have proven to be a source of lasting enjoyment.

My 13 year old son Chase has taught me a couple simple lessons that apply to fatherhood as well business leadership: Never underestimate the importance of patience, humor and enthusiasm. Never take your eye off the ball and never loose sight of the big picture. As Chase has grown older his interest in what I do for a living has become a topic of dinner table conversation. Like many young boys, he has expressed some interest in doing what his dad does for a living. To this I reply: "bring it on pal – I can use the help!"
